Nowadays, the popularity of plastic pallets is increasing, and they can be seen everywhere in our daily lives. They are frequently used in logistics transportation, warehouse management, factory processing, and large chain supermarkets. But do you know how to use plastic pallets correctly? Have you been using them right?
The correct use of plastic pallets requires that the packaged goods placed on the pallet be properly strapped and wrapped to facilitate mechanical handling and transportation, thereby meeting the requirements of loading, transport, and storage.
1. Load Capacity of the Pallet
The load weight on each pallet should be less than or equal to 2 tons. To ensure safety during transportation, the center of gravity of the loaded goods should not exceed two-thirds of the pallet's width.
2. Stacking Methods
Based on the type of goods, the weight of the goods on the pallet, and the pallet dimensions, reasonably determine the stacking pattern on the pallet. The utilization rate of the pallet's load-bearing surface area should generally not be less than 80%. The following requirements apply to stacking goods on pallets:
Solid rectangular goods such as wooden or metal containers: stack in single or multiple layers in an interlocking pattern, wrapped with stretch or shrink film.
Paper or fiber goods: stack in single or multiple layers, sealed with strapping in a cross pattern.
Cylindrical goods such as sealed metal containers: stack in single or multiple layers, reinforced with wooden covers.
Paper products or textiles requiring moisture-proof or waterproof protection: stack in single or multiple layers in an interlocking pattern, wrapped with stretch or shrink film, with corner supports and additional reinforcement such as separators.
Fragile goods: stack in single or multiple layers, with wooden support separators added.
Metal bottles or cylindrical containers: stack vertically in single layers, reinforced with crates and battens.
Bagged goods: stack in multiple layers in a compacted, interlocking pattern.
3. Securing Accessories
After the goods on the pallet are secured, select reinforcement accessories as needed. These accessories may be made of paper, wood, plastic, metal, or other materials.
4. Methods of Securing Goods
The main methods for securing goods on pallets include strapping, adhesive bonding, stretch wrapping, and combinations of these methods.
